This standard is the first in a series of standards for providing high quality martial arts instruction and promotion methodology. This standard provides a uniform learning program that will allow students and Black Belts a reference to stop seniors from making continuous refinements that degrades moral and creating frustration in the tight-nit martial arts organizations. In addition, using this standard will help those serious about training and wanting to return to training at any location without having to start at the beginning that is often required after time off. The posted sign identifying the school uses this standard that is provided can help to grow a school in its popularity by this standard's demanding requirements and promotion process. This standard does not allow the wearing of shoes during training and includes explanations for banning the teaching and use of touchless striking, a scientific explanation for Chi/Qi, identifying the body's vital attack points to strike, legal consequences of receiving self-defense training, identifying the individual(s) who will be violent, necessary body conditioning to recover after first strike, acceptable physical appearance, respectful and honorable behavior and etiquette. The use of this standard will improve the quality of the students and instruction by Black Belts by teaching requirements for a traditional martial arts training program. The contents of this standard will illustrate the severity and complexity of the training, conditioning and education for today's martial arts students and Black Belts to achieve, maintain and increase rank. This standard is necessary due to a number of people whose path to instruction is suspect. This document will identify fundamental information Black Belts can use including the difference between a martial art style and system and how each one is created, and between a traditional martial art and a contemporary fighting art. Use this standard to see if your training and instructor's measure up to a real training program that is defined in this standard. This standard will be maintained by releasing corrected, updated and/or improved revisions to keep this standard as a viable tool for maintaining the quality of traditional martial arts programs around the world.
