Ricardo Sanchez, poet, teacher and activist is considered one of the precursors of Chicano poetry. Highly intelligent with a curiosity for knowledge, he is multilingually articulate and engaging with a penchant for genuineness in his poetic analysis. His works are included in many anthologies abroad as well as in the U.S. Journeys through the Pass represents the poets last work as he returns to his hometown of El Paso before his passing and thus, completes the full circle. Here he celebrates life and culture, an interchange of people, a positive love of family, solidarity and spirituality. These are sentient beings that are humanized and as such, accept differences within humankind.
